Bonfix-150 is a bisphosphonate medication used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and metastasis-associated skeletal fractures in people with cancer. It is used to treat hypercalcemia.

Dose and Direction of Use
- Swallow your tablet with a full glass of water.
- Do not take your tablet with high concentration of calcium, fruit juice or any other drinks.
- Recommended dose: One tablet of 150mg once a month at the same day of every month early in the morning usually before half an hour before breakfast according to the prescription.
Mode of Action
Binds to and absorbs onto the surface of hydroxyapatite crystals in the bone matrix, thereby preventing osteoclast resorption. It also inhibits the farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase, an enzyme involved in the mevalonate pathway. By inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, it increases bone mineral density, decreases bone remodeling and turnover, reduces pain.
Uses
- Reduction of bone damage in bone metastases in breast cancer.
- Used in the people with cancer who have high amount of calcium in their blood.
- Used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patient with abnormalities of oesophagus and inability to stand or sit upright for at least 60 minutes.
- Contraindicated to the patient of hypocalcemia.
Precautions and Warning
- Do not lie down after taking medication for at least an hour.
- If you miss the medication early in the morning of chosen day, do not take the medication later in the day.
- Swallow the tablet whole without crushing or breaking.
- Wait at least 60 minutes after taking Bonfix-150 for breakfast
