Mode of Action

Glucocorticoid acts by making a complex with its receptor and thus inhibiting all the inflammatory responses and bringing some metabolic activities such as stimulation of glucose production in the cell (liver), stimulation of fat breakdown in adipose tissues and inhibition of glucose and fat storage in the cells.

• Inflammatory and Allergic disorders
• Bacterial Meningitis
• Treatment of Addisonian Shock (acute medical emergency due to lack of corticosteroid production by the body):
• Cerebral Oedema

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Dexamethasone
• Active untreated infections

Precautions and Warning

• Before taking this medication, talk to doctor about your medical conditions like fungal infections, kidney disease, liver disease or stomach problems.
• Breast feeding women should not take this medication and are advised not to breast feed during the treatment or 2 weeks after the dose.
• Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.
