Dose and Direction of Use

Swallow the tablet whole by mouth. You can take it with or without food but it is better to take at a fixed time. Don't crush, chew or break the tablet. Follow the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.

Mode of Action

Mirtazapine is a strong antagonist of serotonin 5-HT2 and 5-HT3 receptors.It work by exerting antagonist effects on the central presynaptic alpha-2-adrenergic receptors, which causes an increased release of serotonin and norepinephrine. It has been shown that both noradrenergic and serotonergic activity increase following mirtazapine administration and lead to enhanced noradrenergic and serotonergic activity, which are known to improve the symptoms of depression and form the basis of antidepressant therapy
