DFER is a form of Vitamin D (Vitamin D3). It contains cholecalciferol 60000 IU. It is used to treat and prevent Vitamin D deficiency, hypothyroidism, osteoporosis, and rickets. It also has advantages for prevention of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, fracture, depression and autoimmune disease.

Mode of Action
It is converted in the liver to calcifediol (25-hydroxyvitamin D) which is then converted in the kidney to calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D). One of its actions is to increase the uptake of calcium by the intestines.

Contraindications
Don't use this medicine :
- If you are allergic (hypersensitivity) to Colecalciferol
- If you have high levels of vitamin D in your blood (hypervitaminosis D).
- If you have high levels of calcium in your blood (hypercalcaemia) or urine (hypercalciuria)
- If you are suffering from kidney failure, have kidney stones (renal calculi) or have a tendency to form kidney stones
Precautions and Warning
- Consult you doctor if pregnant or breast feeding before taking this medicine.
- Talk to your doctor about medical history like liver disease, kidney disease, high vitamin D level, high calcium level, heart disease.
- Colecalciferol should only be given to children and adolescents aged 12 and over.
