(ENTECA-B) Entecavir, an anti-retroviral drug, is prescribed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B infections including compensated liver diseases and uncompensated liver diseases. The drug inhibits viral replication in hepatitis B infected patients.

Dose and Direction of Use
Swallow the tablet whole by mouth. You can take it without food in empty stomach. Don't crush, chew or break the tablet. Follow the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.
Mode of Action
It is an antiviral medication. It prevents the multiplication of virus in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection.

- Treatment of Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection
- Treatment of HIV infection
Contraindications
Don't use this medicine if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to this medicine
Precautions and Warning
- You may still develop infections or other illnesses associated with viral infection while taking this medication.
- Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding woman before taking this medicine to understand the risk and benefit ratio.
- Talk to your doctor about past medical history like kidney problem or liver problem before taking this medicine
- Don't double the dose for the missed one.
- Complete the prescribed dose and duration of medicine.
- It may cause dizziness or drowsiness so avoid any activity that requires concentration unless you know how the medicine acts on you.
- Take it on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after or before a meal.
- During treatment and for at least six months after stopping this medicine, regular blood tests are needed to monitor your liver function, level of hepatitis B virus and blood cells in your blood.
