MYLOD-LH is a combination drug used to treat high blood pressure not effectively controlled by monotherapy. Amlodipine and Atenolol works together giving additive effect in lowering high blood pressure and heart rate. You may need timely checkup and dose adjustment to use both of the medication safely.

Dose and Direction of Use
Swallow the whole tablet by mouth.You may take this with or without food as directed by doctor.
Mode of Action
Amlodipine:Blocks the calcium channel.Calcium is responsible for contraction of smoooth muscles lining the arteries.Amlodipine relaxes the arteries and increases the flow of blood to the heart and decreases the blood pressure and also useful in angina.
Atenolol:Decreases the activation of Beta 1 receptors on the heart and decreases the renin release.This results in decrease in cardiac output and decreases the high blood pressure.

Contraindications
Don't use this medicine if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to amlodipine or atenolol
- Severe hypotension (less than 90 mmHg systolic)
- Sinus bradycardia
- Heart block greater than first degree
- Cardiogenic shock
Precautions and Warning
- Atenolol should be used with caution in:
- Bronchospastic diseases
- Renal impairment
- Cardiac failure
- Amlodipine should be used with caution in:
- Congestive cardiac failure
- Pediatrics
- Safety and effectiveness of this combination has not been evaluated.
- Pregnancy Category D. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant.
- Lactation: Atenolol is excreted in breast milk and may cause bradycardia in breastfed infants, hence, safer alternatives are recommended.
- Orange juice decreases the effect of atenolol. So, avoid consumption of large amount of orange juice.
- You may experience dizziness, headache or even fainting with this medicine. So, try to avoid any machinery works or driving unless you know how the medication treats you.
