Olevo Syrup is brand name of Levocetrizine 2.5mg/ 5ml. Levocetrizine is a third-generation non-sedative antihistamine developed from second generation antihistamine, Cetrizine.Chemically Levocetrizine is the active enantiomer of Cetrizine. Levocetirizine is a selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist, with antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and potential anti-angiogenic activities.
It relief from symptoms such as blocked or runny nose, sneezing, and itchy or watery eyes. It can also give relief from allergic reactions after insect bites and symptoms such as rash, swelling, itching, and irritation.

Dose and Direction of Use
Shake well before use.Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Olevo Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. Follow the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.
Mode of Action
Levocetirizine selectively inhibits histamine H1 receptors.This action prevents histamine from activating this receptor and causing effects like smooth muscle contraction, increased permeability of vascular endothelium, histidine uptake in basophils, stimulation of cough receptors, and stimulation of flare responses in the nervous system.Thus relieves the allergic symptoms.
Uses
- Relief of nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and perrenial allergic rhinitis.
- Relieving the symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Contraindications
Don't use this medicine if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to Levocetrizine,hydroxyzine or any piperazine derivative
- Severe renal impairement less than 10 ml/min creatinine clearence
Precautions and Warning
- Caution is recommended for epileptic patient and patient at risk of covulsions. Talk to your doctor about your medical conditions.
- Precaution is recommended with concurrent intake of alcohol & CNS depressants
- Caution should be taken in patients with predisposing factors of urinary retention as Levocetirizine may increase the risk of urinary retention
- It may cause dizziness or drowsiness so avoid any activity that requires concentration unless you know how the medicine acts on you.
- Avoid giving this syrup with fatty meals and fruit juice as both can reduce the action of medicine.
- Dry mouth can occur as a side effect of taking this Syrup. Staying hydrated may help to reduce the side effect.
