Ripot-25 contains Topiramate 25 mg as active ingredient.Topiramate is a medication that is approved for the treatment of seizures (epilepsy) in adults and children in combination with other anticonvulsants and for preventing migraine headaches in adults.

Dose and Direction of Use
Swallow the tablet whole by mouth.
You can take it with or without food.
Don't crush, chew or break the tablet.
Follow the dose and duration as prescribed by the doctor.
Mode of Action
Topiramate enhances GABA-activated chloride channels. In addition, Topiramate inhibits excitatory neurotransmission, through actions on kainate and AMPA receptors. Topiramate inhibits maximal electroshock and pentylenetetrazol-induced seizures as well as partial and secondarily generalized tonic-clonic seizures in the kindling model, findings predective of a broad spectrum of antiseizure activities clinically.
Uses
- Epilepsy
- Monotherapy in adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age with partial seizures with or without secondary generalised seizures, and primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures.
- Adjunctive therapy in children aged 2 years and above, adolescents and adults with partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalization or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures and for the treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
- Topiramate is indicated in adults for the prophylaxis of migraine headache after careful evaluation of possible alternative treatment options. Topiramate is not intended for acute treatment.
Contraindications
Don't use this medicine if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to Topiramate.
- Migraine prophylaxis in pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential if not using a highly effective method of contraception.
Precautions and Warning
- Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding woman before taking this medicine to understand the risk and benefit ratio.
- Talk to your doctor about past medical history like kidney problem or liver problem before taking this medicine
- Don't double the dose for the missed one. Don't change the brand of the medicines without talking to the doctor.
- Complete the prescribed dose and duration of medicine.
- An increased incidence of mood disturbances and depression, suicidal ideation and behaviour occurs with thie medication. Talk to your doctor about such disturbing tendencies.
- Some patients may experience weight loss or gain. So, you are adviced to monitor weight during treatment.
- Adequate hydration while using Topiramate is very important. Hydration can reduce the risk of nephrolithiasis(kidney stones). Proper hydration prior to and during activities such as exercise or exposure to warm temperatures may reduce the risk of heat related adverse events.
- Some patients, especially those with a predisposition to nephrolithiasis(kidney stones), may be at increased risk for renal stone formation and associated signs and symptoms such as renal colic, renal pain or flank pain.
