STACEF is the brand name of Ceftriaxone Sodium 500 mg Dry Powder for Injection.It's use is against bacterial infections by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. It is also used for different kinds surgery to prevent infections. This medication is not a choice for viral infections.

Dose and Direction of Use

Use the Sterile Water For Injection provided to reconstitute. The reconstituted solution must be used immediately. STACEF can be given as both I.V./I.M. injection.  If you are using this medication at home, have proper knowledge with your doctor before using it.

Mode of Action

- Ceftriaxone Sodium binds with bacterial transpeptidase and inhibits the cross-linking of Peptidoglycan.

- This leads to bacterial cell wall synthesis inhibition and thus, death of the bacteria.

- Ceftriaxone Sodium has bactericidal activity.

• Known hypersensitivity to penicillin, cephalosporins or other components of drug

Precautions and Warning

• Use the disposable syringe/needle only once.
• Consult to your doctor if you have any medical condition such as kidney disease, intestinal disease, stomach disease before taking this medication.
• Consult to your doctor if you are breast feeding or pregnant. This medication pass into breast milk in small amount and is less likely to cause harm to the nursing infant. Use with caution after discussing with doctor.
• Use the medication till the full prescribed length even if symptoms disappear.
• Don't double the dose for the missed one.
• If a newborn baby less than 1 year old is receiving this medication then don't give any medication that contains calcium by vein. It might cause harm to their vital organs.
• If particles or discoloration is present visually then don't use this solution.
• Requirement of monitoring of prothrombin time in patients with impaired vitamin K synthesis or low vitamin K stores
